About the Role

Join Australia's foremost employer of apprentices in the residential building sector as a Group Training Field Officer focused on the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers areas. This independent and fulfilling position involves close collaboration with apprentices, hosting businesses, educational institutions, training providers, and industry partners to facilitate apprentice success and foster HIA Apprentices' growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive business expansion by identifying and onboarding new host employers across the residential construction industry.
  • Recruit skilled apprentices aligning with workforce demands and company growth objectives.
  • Promote HIA Apprentices to prospective employers and industry professionals at trade nights, career expos, school events, and industry meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships through regular site visits, offering coaching and support to apprentices during their employment and monitoring workplace performance and training progress.
  • Conduct workplace assessments complying with funding and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate host employer rotations when necessary and provide guidance on training agreements and apprenticeship responsibilities.
  • Foster and sustain effective partnerships with employers, apprentices, educational organizations, industry associations, government entities, and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure meticulous record-keeping within internal systems, meet fieldwork and reporting deadlines, support safety compliance (WHS), and assist with disciplinary and performance management processes as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven capability to source and secure new business opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management proficiency.
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently manage your calendar.
  • Professional demeanor including sound judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Competent with administrative tasks and computer systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
  • Effective engagement with apprentices, employers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Eligibility to obtain or hold Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

Preferred Extras

  • Experience in sales or business development.
  • Familiarity with apprenticeship programs or Group Training Organizations (GTOs).
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship awards, wages, and employment regulations.
  • Background in the residential building industry.
  • Trade qualifications in related building trades.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
