About the Role
Our client, a major player in the FMCG manufacturing sector, is establishing a new Group Supply Chain department within their FMCG division, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This strategic role reports directly to the Vice President of FMCG and is pivotal in enhancing the firm’s sourcing capabilities for raw materials, supporting manufacturing units primarily across Africa. The position is focused on formulating and steering the comprehensive supply chain strategy to ensure seamless, cost-efficient sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution of products meeting service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a unified supply chain strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
- Champion ongoing improvements in procurement, planning, logistics, inventory control, and customer service processes.
- Develop robust supply chain resilience and contingency planning.
- Lead demand and supply planning and oversee Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to ensure accurate forecasting, capacity planning, and availability of supplies.
- Manage sourcing strategies across raw materials, packaging, and indirect procurement, negotiating supplier agreements to enhance cost efficiency and securing long-term supplier partnerships while monitoring quality, delivery, and risk.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to optimize production planning, enhance operational efficiency, and promote waste reduction and operational excellence.
- Oversee inventory management by optimizing stock levels, minimizing obsolescence, and improving inventory turnover and working capital management with safety stock policies in place.
- Prepare and control the annual supply chain budget with a focus on cost saving and productivity improvements to boost profitability.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for the supply chain leadership team, cultivating a culture of high performance and cross-department collaboration.
- Lead digital transformation efforts including ERP optimization, implementing supply chain analytics, reporting tools, and promoting automation throughout supply chain operations.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience of 15 to 20 years in progressive supply chain management roles.
- Strong background spanning procurement, demand and supply planning, logistics, manufacturing coordination, and inventory oversight.
- Experience managing regional or multinational supply chain functions is highly valued.
- Relevant professional certifications such as APICS CSCP/CPIM, CIPS, or ISM are advantageous.
