Group Logistics Operations Specialist

Role overview

OBT is a logistics and shipping business with more than 20 years of experience, backed by long-standing partnerships across Africa and an international network of ship owners, operators, and logistics experts. The company is hiring a Logistics Operations Specialist to join the Group Logistics Operations team in Dubai.

In this position, you will help plan and execute complete logistics solutions for shipments moving to and from Africa. The role involves handling inbound and outbound freight, understanding customer needs, and working closely with local offices, partners, and external service providers to keep operations efficient, compliant, and aligned with OBT’s quality standards. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, comfortable in a busy environment, and focused on dependable service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, track, and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments across the African region.
• Handle RFQs and support pricing-related activities.
• Work with regional offices and partners to improve operational efficiency.
• Assess customer needs and respond with attentive, solution-focused service.
• Design and implement logistics solutions for customers and OBT offices.
• Take part in preparing for and attending business review meetings with key accounts, including updates on KPIs, milestones, challenges, and corrective actions.
• Make sure company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations are followed.
• Maintain a high level of service quality and resolve operational issues quickly.
• Assist local offices with complex shipments and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Hands-on background in freight forwarding and logistics operations.
• Solid understanding of logistics workflows and customer service practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication, along with coordination skills.
• Ability to stay effective in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
• Proactive team player who works collaboratively and takes ownership of results.
• Careful attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
