Group Finance Controller / Financial Director

Position overview

We are looking for a senior finance leader who can take charge of the group’s finance activities and steer both control and commercial finance priorities. Reporting to the Managing Director and shareholder, this role is intended for someone who can balance rigorous financial governance with hands-on support for growth, investments, and operational decision-making.

Core responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting cycle and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
• Maintain adherence to IFRS as well as all applicable local statutory obligations.
• Handle corporate tax planning and support VAT compliance, including refund-related work.
• Supervise external audits and strengthen internal control systems.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and investment-related finance activities.
• Provide financial insight to guide pricing and trading decisions.
• Track key performance metrics and highlight areas where business performance can improve.
• Support strategic planning for investment initiatives and evaluate opportunities for expansion.
• Drive financial due diligence, prepare business cases, and monitor outcomes after investments are made.
• Build and manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders and partners.
• Guide the finance team, encourage development, and improve processes across the function.
• Introduce and embed strong practices for financial management and reporting.

Candidate profile

The ideal professional will bring deep senior-level finance leadership experience in the UAE, along with a strong grasp of financial control, treasury, budgeting, reporting, and cash flow management. Experience in investment projects, business growth outside the UAE, and working with finance institutions, auditors, and ERP platforms will be important. Exposure to finance transformation initiatives and international trade finance will be highly valued.

Preferred industry background

A background in oil and gas, energy, commodities, or trading operations is preferred. Experience in marine fuels, marine lubricants, bunker trading, or closely related sectors would be a significant advantage.
