Job description

Role overview

The Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group is looking to appoint a new Group Director of Estates and Facilities at VSM level. This senior leadership post carries Group-wide responsibility for estates, facilities and capital matters across the hospital group.

The appointment offers a chance to help create the first shared Estates and Facilities Strategy across three acute trusts, while also contributing to the design of a common Group model for estates and facilities leadership. The role will work closely with major capital and infrastructure programmes, including the New Hospital Programme at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn and James Paget University Hospital.

This is the most senior professional estates, facilities and capital lead within the group. Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, the postholder will provide strategic advice, assurance and direction at Group Executive level and will lead work on the Group’s first unified strategy in this area.

What the role involves

The position brings together strategic leadership, operational resilience, statutory compliance, sustainability, capital planning and service improvement. It also requires the successful candidate to work across organisational boundaries, understand the needs of different sites, gain the confidence of senior stakeholders and establish a clear shared direction for estates and facilities across the group.

People and culture

The newly formed Norfolk & Waveney University Hospitals Group is building its transformation around people and culture. Working as one system is intended to strengthen workforce development, improve staff experience and create consistent, supportive leadership across all three hospitals. The approach is designed to support better training, stronger wellbeing support and a culture based on compassion, flexibility and continuous learning.
