Job description
Overview
Join Iowa State University's Department of Residence as part of our Summer Grounds Crew and contribute to maintaining the lawns and landscaping around residence halls and student apartments. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor work during the summer months and seek flexible scheduling around their summer classes.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Maintain and care for campus greenery including lawns and foliage.
- Operate landscaping hand tools such as pruners and spades, as well as powered equipment like mowers, tillers, and edgers.
- Drive university vehicles and operate utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) responsibly.
- Be available and dependable, working Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a student in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above.
- Possession of a valid driver's license to operate campus vehicles.
- Preferably have background experience in horticulture or lawn care.
- Flexibility with work hours during weekdays.
- International students should check visa requirements as some restrictions on working hours may apply.
Additional Information
