Role overview
Sobeys is a Canadian grocery retailer with a large network of stores across the country. This Grocery Clerk position is based in Kelowna, British Columbia, and is part of the Store Careers group.
As a Grocery Clerk, you will help keep the store organized, well stocked, and easy for customers to shop. The role is centered on efficient product replenishment, strong customer service, and maintaining standards on the sales floor. Full training is provided.
What you'll do
- Follow company procedures, policies, and operating standards in all situations.
- Welcome customers in a courteous and approachable manner.
- Deliver helpful and consistent customer service aligned with store programs.
- Restock shelves with dairy, frozen items, and non-perishable goods.
- Create and maintain merchandise displays according to store guidelines.
- Rotate stock to support freshness and proper inventory flow.
- Load and unload products for the sales floor.
- Help with backroom organization and inventory control.
- Operate the cash register when needed during busy periods to provide relief support.
- Handle other tasks assigned by the Store Manager.
What you need
- No prior work experience is required.
- You should be able to learn quickly and adapt to a busy retail setting.
- A strong team mindset and self-motivated attitude are important.
- You must communicate clearly in both spoken and written English.
- Customer-focused behavior and service skills are essential.
- You need to work safely and responsibly at all times.
- Flexible availability is required.
- Evening and weekend shifts are strongly preferred.
- Availability on Sundays at any time is required for Alberta locations.
Physical demands
This role includes regular physical activity throughout the shift. You may need to lift up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 20 to 50 pounds occasionally. The job also involves frequent bending, walking, standing, twisting, pushing, and pulling, as well as constant reaching and gripping. Occasional crouching, kneeling, squatting, and use of computers or point-of-sale systems may also be required.
