About the Opportunity

Sobeys has evolved from its origins as a meat delivery company in Stellarton, Nova Scotia into a large food retail network with more than 128,000 teammates across corporate-owned and franchise/affiliate store locations. The organization operates over 1,500 stores in all 10 provinces under banners such as Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, Lawtons Drugs, Voilà, and others. This opportunity is for a position at an independently owned and operated franchised/affiliate store.

In this role, you will deliver courteous, professional service while preparing meat products for customers and presenting meat displays. The position also supports a positive workplace where both employees and customers feel engaged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer needs through helpful and professional service.
  • Prepare meat products for sale and customer purchase.
  • Arrange and present the meat area when required.
  • Keep the meat department clean, organized, and well maintained.
  • Receive and handle incoming meat orders.
  • Process special meat product requests from customers.
  • Take part in ongoing professional development.
  • Follow company meat standards and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations.
  • Apply all relevant company policies and operating standards.
  • Carry out administrative tasks as needed.
  • Train new team members and clerks in technical processes.
  • Support the Meat Manager and, where applicable, the Second Meat Clerk/Department role.

What You Need

  • Strong understanding of department operations and meat handling skills.
  • Ability to work on your own in a busy, fast-moving environment.
  • High School Diploma.
  • At least 12 months of experience in a relevant setting.

The final pay is determined by experience, qualifications, and internal equity within the approved range.
