Job description
Role Overview
ELK is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer for a part-time parental leave contract lasting up to 12 months. The role is focused on producing polished, brand-led creative that reflects the ELK visual identity across media and customer touchpoints.
This position is based in Preston, Victoria, with a hybrid working arrangement. The standard commitment is 4 days per week, and the days can be chosen flexibly. The business welcomes applicants who are aligned with sustainable fashion, collaborative working, and a strong digital design mindset.
Responsibilities
- Create day-to-day visual assets to brief, using seasonal photography and style guidance to support brand campaigns and content needs.
- Develop digital creative for social channels, blogs, EDMs, ad campaigns, and website content.
- Ensure all output remains consistent with ELK’s aesthetic and brand principles.
- Contribute fresh ideas for digital storytelling, including animation concepts, emerging trends, and new presentation formats.
- Stay current with design best practices, software developments, and user experience standards.
- Support print-related work such as store signage, merchandising, packaging, and publications when needed.
- Organise and label imagery from ecommerce shoots accurately for easy access and use.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in a comparable graphic design role.
- A tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong capability with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign, and Illustrator; Shopify experience is an advantage.
- A portfolio and professional background that show strong, on-brand digital design ability.
- Ability to edit and retouch photographs to a high standard.
- Strong grasp of typography, including headline treatment.
- Comfort working with social and marketing platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Klaviyo, Pinterest, Twitter, and ecommerce CMS tools.
- Broad multimedia skills and a willingness to keep building expertise in newer technologies.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities and market needs.
- High attention to detail and strong accuracy.
- Print design exposure is highly regarded.

Eligibility
Applicants should be experienced graphic designers who are comfortable working in a hybrid setup from the Preston office in Melbourne. The company cannot consider sponsorship or fully remote arrangements for this role. Flexible working may be considered for the right person, including a schedule of up to 80% of a full-time week.
