Assignment overview
This is a short-term online volunteering assignment focused on graphic design support for the IVY Campaign in Malawi. It is task-based and non-contractual, and it is carried out remotely. Volunteers do not receive any allowance or other entitlements, but a certificate of appreciation is issued after successful completion. The selection process and collaboration are not handled by UNV.
Context
The United Nations Volunteers programme and Voluntary Services Overseas are jointly running a social media advocacy initiative in Malawi to mark the International Year of Volunteers. The campaign will run from June to November 2026 and is intended to promote the value of volunteerism in helping Malawi achieve national development priorities. It will cover themes such as volunteer wellbeing, legal frameworks, and inclusive volunteer management through webinars and targeted social media content. The work is aligned with the Global Index of Volunteer Engagement framework and the Global Volunteering Standard.
Role purpose
The assignment seeks four creative graphic designers to produce a consistent set of visual materials for the campaign and ensure that all assets remain aligned with the campaign’s visual direction and organizational branding.
Key tasks
- Create standardized design templates for the campaign, including webinar presentation slides, social media cards for Facebook, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter, and quote cards for speakers and key messages.
- Design promotional posters for the eight webinar events scheduled between July and October 2026.
- Apply UNV and VSO branding rules across all deliverables and follow the visual guidance shared on the IVY Trello board.
- Adapt artwork into suitable formats for different digital channels and sizes as required.

Requirements
- Demonstrated graphic design experience with a strong portfolio showing template development and promotional design work.
- Working knowledge of professional design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, or Canva.
- Ability to produce polished, contemporary, and visually engaging layouts that follow brand guidelines.
- Fluent English is required.
