About the CTCT Division

The CTCT division, a collaboration between Trimble and Caterpillar, focuses on developing positioning and control solutions for earthmoving and paving machinery. These products utilize GPS, lasers, sonics, and optical total stations to provide precise guidance for machine operators in both horizontal and vertical planes.

Role Overview

This opportunity is tailored for recent graduates or those soon to graduate in engineering disciplines concentrating on software development. The role is developmental with comprehensive training in software engineering supporting autonomous systems. You will contribute directly to embedded C++ platforms that integrate Android and Angular interfaces, influencing innovative solutions in Grade Control and Automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively in a progressive software team on embedded C++ development and dynamic Android/Angular UI tasks.
  • Engage throughout all stages of software development, including component design, system testing, and issue resolution.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and translate customer requirements into technological enhancements.
  • Support a safe, inclusive, and innovative workplace dedicated to continuous learning.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or nearing completion in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with Object-Oriented Programming, preferably Java or C++, and interpreted languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with common design patterns and a detail-focused, systematic problem-solving approach.
  • Strong communication abilities and a proactive attitude towards ownership and collaboration.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous involvement with Agile development methodologies.
  • Keen interest in new technologies, integration of hardware-software, and automation systems.

Additional Information

  • Position is based in the Trimble Christchurch office and requires onsite presence five days per week.
