Where you'll work
Job description
The role
British Airways is offering a three-year finance graduate programme based at London Heathrow. You will begin in one of three placements with genuine responsibility, supporting key business areas and working closely with stakeholders across the airline.
In this scheme, you may help shape investment choices for onboard products, assess commercial decisions linked to network expansion, or negotiate with suppliers to support cost effectiveness. Over the course of the programme, you will rotate through three different finance teams, gaining broad exposure to varied projects, ideas and ways of working while building a strong internal network.
The finance function is also evolving with greater use of data, automation, AI-enabled tools and autonomous digital agents. You will develop the ability to apply commercial judgement while also overseeing, challenging and validating AI-supported analysis and processes in a secure, transparent, traceable and auditable environment. The programme is designed to help you combine traditional finance capability with modern technology-aware finance practices.
British Airways will support you in working toward your preferred professional qualification: CIMA, ACCA or ACA (ICAEW).
What British Airways is looking for
The company is seeking graduates with a minimum 2:2 degree, or an equivalent qualification, in any discipline. You should be commercially minded, a confident communicator, and able to influence others effectively.
You will also need strong problem-solving ability and a willingness to approach business challenges in creative and strategic ways. Curiosity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for how AI and emerging technology can improve finance are important, along with an understanding that human judgement, governance, accountability and ethical decision-making remain essential.
There is also an interest in candidates who want to combine core finance skills with the ability to work effectively in technology-enabled settings, including supervising AI-assisted workflows and automated processes.
Benefits
- Join a graduate community and connect with peers across the business.
- Take part in sustainability and community-focused initiatives.
- Access colleague networks such as LGBTQ+ Flying Proud and the ethnic minority network BeMe.
- Volunteer in schools and universities to help inspire future talent.
- Enjoy discounted flights and generous annual leave to travel and explore.
Inclusion and culture
British Airways says it values individuality and wants a workplace where people from different backgrounds and cultures can thrive. The organisation is committed to inclusion and diversity as a driver of innovation, and it aims to build a culture where colleagues can bring their full selves to work.
Application guidance
Applicants should avoid using AI to strengthen their application, as British Airways wants personality to come through naturally.
Visa and work authorisation
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the graduate programme. Completion of the scheme may make graduates eligible to apply for finance roles, but finance roles are not currently eligible for sponsorship.
Recruitment timeline
