Job description

About the Company

The company is building a leading cross-border fintech platform for emerging markets, with a mission to support families, strengthen local economies, and widen access to financial services. Since launching in 2019, it has reshaped international money movement across 6 of 7 continents, serving both high-volume and underserved remittance routes. The business has helped move users from bank-led systems to mobile-first finance, and is now expanding into a broader set of products such as local cards, savings, and payment features for diaspora communities.

Backed by notable investors and scaling rapidly, the organisation combines measurable social impact with modern fintech innovation.

Company Highlights

  • Founded by Harvard alumni and repeat founders who previously built Segovia and GiveDirectly.
  • Supported by investors such as Spark Capital, Canaan, Reid Hoffman, Breyer Capital, Unbound, Wamda, and others.
  • Built by a highly international team with experience from Bain, Google, McKinsey, Uber, Checkout, Bolt, and more.
  • Operates with a global workforce of 250+ people across 50+ nationalities and 50+ languages.
  • Works around core values centered on ownership, impact, humility, and heart.

Role Overview

As Global Expansion Lead, you will report to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and take ownership of the company’s licensing strategy as it enters new markets. The role sits at the intersection of regulation, product, and expansion, and requires close collaboration across legal, compliance, product, operations, and commercial teams to secure the approvals needed to launch and grow responsibly.

This is a practical, hands-on position for someone who is comfortable operating in complex regulatory settings and can turn expansion plans into executable outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the end-to-end process for entering new markets and launching new products, ensuring the right approvals and operating frameworks are in place.
  • Build and maintain a global expansion plan that supports the company’s business priorities.
  • Evaluate feasibility, timing, costs, and risks for prospective markets and products, then turn that analysis into actionable guidance for leadership.
  • Monitor regulatory and market changes that may affect international growth and communicate implications clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Create repeatable systems that make market entry more efficient and help move each launch from approval stage to live operations smoothly.

What the Company Is Looking For

  • At least 5 years of experience in regulatory licensing, compliance, legal work, or international expansion in financial services, fintech, or payments.
  • Proven background leading license applications across several jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of cross-border payments, cryptoassets, remittances, and regulated financial products.
  • Comfort working directly with regulators and handling regulatory correspondence on your own.

Working Style Fit

  • People-oriented and confident in building strong professional relationships.
  • Execution-focused with a strong bias toward turning ideas into action.
  • Motivated by meaningful, mission-led work.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively using a structured approach.
  • Ambitious, resilient, and comfortable in a target-driven environment.

Values

  • Impact first.
  • Team next.
  • Accept reality.
  • Propose solutions.
  • Win with grit.
  • Be proactively candid with yourself and others.
  • Love the particular.
  • Own it.
  • Create positive energy.
  • Maybe, even have fun.
