Role Overview
This one-year fellowship at the Human Rights Institute (HRI) is tailored for individuals passionate about human rights and innovative advocacy. The Fellow will support the Institute’s mission by engaging in research, event coordination, and fostering links within the human rights community.
Primary Duties
- Researching legal and background materials to assist in planning the "Human Rights Advocacy in Action Practicum" and finalizing student projects for partner organizations.
- Engaging with HRI's alumni network to reinforce connections with human rights practitioners.
- Planning and organizing human rights conferences and related events alongside program staff.
- Assisting in updating HRI's social media, website content, and newsletters.
- Providing guidance on academic and career pathways for students interested in human rights.
- Undertaking other tasks aligned with the Fellow’s interests and skills.
Working Context
The Fellow will be a key member of the HRI team, collaborating closely with the Deputy Director and other staff. The role includes a hybrid work mode, balancing onsite presence and remote work as needed.
Candidate Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a J.D. degree, graduating in 2024.
- Demonstrated commitment and experience in human rights work.
- Interest in collaborating with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Strong legal research, writing, and editing capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Self-driven, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
