Role overview
We are hiring a General Operative in traffic management to support safe and efficient road operations in Shotts, Scotland (ML7 5DW). This position sits with a leading traffic management provider in Scotland and is suited to someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working outdoors as part of a close-knit team.
Shift patterns
The role offers flexible working arrangements to help balance work and personal life. Shifts may combine day and night work and can follow one of these patterns:
- 12 days on followed by 2 days off, then continuing on the same cycle
- 6 days on and 1 day off
- Part-time schedule across 4 days, either Saturday to Tuesday or Thursday to Sunday
There are also vacancies for high-speed operatives, which are night-shift based and require a 12AB Lantra qualification.
What the role involves
You will help set up, monitor, and maintain traffic control arrangements on highways and construction sites. The job also involves directing road users safely during roadworks, events, and emergency situations, while working alongside colleagues and clients to keep operations running smoothly.

Eligibility and requirements
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK and be able to work the shift patterns listed above. A full UK driving licence is required; it must have been held for more than 10 months and must not carry more than 6 points. Candidates should also live within 40 minutes' driving distance of the depot. Traffic management qualifications such as Lantra 12AB, 12D M1/M2, or Unit 2 are desirable but not mandatory.
