Position Summary
The General Manager of Dispensary is charged with leading the dispensary team, ensuring smooth daily operations, and acting as a mentor, patient advocate, and representative of Ethos' brand values. This role requires coordinating all facets of the dispensary’s performance, including patient and staff management, sales growth, and adherence to regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enforce Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and best practices that align with Ethos’ mission at the dispensary level.
- Recruit, train, and mentor dispensary staff, including developing comprehensive training on medical cannabis products and usage methods.
- Guide the dispensary through launch phases and manage ongoing store operations efficiently.
- Oversee financial records management and cash handling procedures strictly.
- Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in handling sensitive information.
- Manage opening and closing procedures of the dispensary daily.
- Collaborate with organizational leaders to cultivate an excellent customer experience.
- Enhance store productivity through operational excellence, continuous process improvements, and addressing challenges promptly.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals for dispensary employees.
- Negotiate and source quality products by engaging with wholesalers and producers.
- Organize staff scheduling to meet operational demands.
- Maintain a customer-first approach focusing on culture, ethics, service, sales, and brand integrity.
- Contribute to marketing strategies alongside management and marketing teams.
- Work closely with compliance, security, and logistics teams to uphold policies and prioritize needs.
- Act as community and healthcare liaison, promoting outreach and educational initiatives.
- Coordinate patient education programs in collaboration with growers, processors, and marketing.
- Partner with IT for technology deployment and adjustment based on business requirements.
- Ensure the dispensary environment is safe, sanitary, and operationally sound.
- Lead special projects and strategy implementations assigned by executive management.
- Report directly to the Manager of Retail Operations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven leadership in cannabis retail management, including SOP development and comprehensive employee training.
- Experience with inventory management and financial reconciliations.
- Proficiency in human resource tasks such as hiring, training, performance evaluations, and payroll management.
- Strong communication, team-building, and interpersonal skills with high integrity and work ethic.
- Hands-on management style, including willingness to fill operational gaps.
- Competence in computer applications including POS systems, Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and online communication tools.
- Ability to analyze operational metrics and financial reports for informed decision-making.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with calmness under pressure.
- Effective in diverse, multicultural environments.
- Physical capability to sit, walk, bend, reach extensively, and lift up to 20 pounds for 50 feet.
- Must pass state-specific background checks; age minimum 21 in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
- Valid driver’s license or state ID and authorization to work in the U.S.
Compensation and Additional Information
- This exempt position offers an annual salary between $70,000 and $90,000, with no eligibility for overtime.
