Job description
Position Overview
Playfly Sports is seeking a General Manager based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to drive incremental sponsorship revenue for the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA). This role collaborates closely with the MHSAA Executive Director and senior leaders from Playfly Sports Properties to secure and manage enterprise partnership agreements, all while working on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the association to formulate and implement a sales strategy aimed at surpassing Playfly's revenue targets.
- Oversee profit and loss statements and budget reports to sustain and exceed EBITDA goals.
- Identify, engage, and secure numerous new and renewal high-level corporate sponsorship deals.
- Discover prospective sponsors for MHSAA Sports Properties through networking with stakeholders and conducting research on local to national companies.
- Collaborate with Playfly leadership and MHSAA team to devise sales inventory, project revenues, and formulate sponsorship strategies.
- Develop tailored sales presentations by integrating market research, industry dynamics, and prospective partners' marketing objectives.
- Draft sales proposals and handle contract negotiations with clients.
- Work closely with clients to define marketing goals through comprehensive needs assessments and collaborative sales processes.
- Host and nurture sponsor relationships beyond game settings.
- Prepare end-of-year reports summarizing sponsor engagements.
- Represent MHSAA Sports Properties, MHSAA, and Playfly in a professional capacity.
- Stay informed on trends and developments in the sports sponsorship industry.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of Playfly's various business units to explore new business opportunities and leads.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3-4 years’ direct sales experience in the sports multimedia sector; 6+ years overall sales experience is preferred.
- Proven expertise in managing and exceeding budget and revenue targets.
- Knowledge of CRM systems such as KORE or similar.
- Strong background in integrated and conceptual sales approaches.
- Ability to present innovative ideas clearly and offer creative client solutions.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in professional sales presentations.
- Motivated and adaptable to implement Playfly’s revenue strategies and understand the unique partnership with MHSAA.
Work Requirements & Conditions
- Availability for game days and evening sports events is necessary.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and presentations.
- Capability to work nights and weekends corresponding with sporting events.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is between 75000 and 85000 CAD annually, with actual compensation dependent on factors including expertise, certifications, and location.
