General Manager for Asian Restaurant XIAO

About the Role

We are searching for a proactive and responsible General Manager to lead one of our Asian XIAO restaurants in Wuppertal. As a key leader, you will take full ownership of restaurant operations, acting as an autonomous entrepreneur who ensures smooth daily workflows and memorable guest experiences. Your role involves leading, supporting, and developing your team to continuously improve results. You will make decisions with long-term perspectives in mind and embody the enthusiasm that represents the XIAO brand.

Key Duties

• Manage and oversee all aspects of a XIAO restaurant generating 4 to 5 million Euros in net sales annually, serving around 150,000 guests, and employing approximately 60 staff members.
• Hold full operational accountability for restaurant performance.
• Recruit new personnel and build a talent pool for future workforce needs.
• Design and implement training programs for new and current employees to enhance team capability.
• Maintain compliance with company policies as well as food safety and quality standards within the restaurant.
• Efficiently control inventory and ensure optimal staff scheduling.
• Ensure profitability and smooth operation by setting clear objectives and KPIs; take corrective actions when required.
• Manage guest relations professionally to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain open communication channels with company leadership and coordinate with departments such as HR, Marketing, Purchasing, and Controlling.
• Engage with external partners and customers to foster relationships.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in system gastronomy, ideally with several years in a managerial role, particularly as an operations manager.
• Background working with buffet-style service concepts.
• Good command of English language.
• Strong operational skills blending roles of a hospitable host and a strategic entrepreneur; able to motivate, coach, and inspire team members to excel.
• Sound knowledge of business management principles.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with analytical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills, time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work under pressure and strong drive to achieve results.
• Self-motivated with a responsible approach, possessing a vision for long-term business development.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
