Job description
About the Role
Fisher & Paykel is a renowned New Zealand brand with global reach, deeply rooted in local heritage. Our culture is driven by curiosity and passion to design solutions centered around people. Our core values emphasize trust, sustainability, innovation, generosity, and curiosity. We foster a collaborative environment where every idea is respected and tested, aiming to be the world's most human-focused appliance brand.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially focused finance leader to significantly influence the future success of Fisher & Paykel's New Zealand operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager Finance – New Zealand will lead commercial finance, planning, forecasting, reporting, and control functions supporting both the New Zealand Distributor and Customer Experience businesses. Acting as a trusted advisor to the Executive and senior leaders, you will supply financial insights, commercial advice, and strategic perspective to facilitate well-informed decisions and sustainable growth.
This position goes beyond typical finance responsibilities. It is a highly visible leadership role embedded at the core of the business, collaborating closely with sales, product, marketing, customer experience, operations, and the global finance network to influence strategy, enhance performance, and uncover opportunities that boost competitiveness.
Based in our Penrose, Auckland office, you will lead a skilled finance team and contribute to the commercial direction of one of New Zealand's most recognized and trusted brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a commercial challenger and cross-functional facilitator, integrating sales, product, and operations to achieve profitable growth and informed decision-making.
- Oversee financial planning, forecasting, reporting, performance management, and control for New Zealand Distributor and Customer Experience segments.
- Develop and nurture a high-performing finance team while enhancing financial governance, business partnering skills, and operational excellence within the finance function.
Candidate Profile
You are a commercially astute finance executive with strong technical skills and exceptional business partnering ability. You understand that finance leaders should do more than report figures: you influence decisions, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and drive business performance.
You thrive in a dynamic commercial environment, naturally earning credibility with senior leaders. Comfortable both in board meetings and operational settings, you can simplify complex information, communicate effectively, and clarify pivotal business decisions.
Your leadership style emphasizes people development, collaboration, and empowering teams to excel and grow.
What We Offer
Join a substantial, complex international organization proudly headquartered in New Zealand, gaining extensive exposure to global business operations without relocating.
Along with a competitive salary and a hybrid working model, you'll have clear development pathways and real opportunities for career progression. Benefits include generous discounts on Fisher & Paykel and Haier products, life and disability insurance, subsidized medical coverage, access to an industry-leading family leave policy, a subsidized on-site café, and free parking at the office.
Supported by outstanding leadership and a world-class heritage brand recognized as one of New Zealand’s most trusted repeatedly.
