Job description
Role Overview
This leadership position in Finance & Accounting is based in Pune and is responsible for steering core accounting, compliance, tax, treasury, and control activities across the business. The role demands strong business judgment, deep accounting knowledge, and hands-on ownership of statutory, management, and transactional finance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end accounting close activities and ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and aligned with IFRS and Indian accounting standards.
- Oversee annual and quarterly statutory books, audit requirements, and reporting for both local and group purposes.
- Evaluate the financial feasibility of new business models and assess profitability, investment needs, and risk exposure.
- Handle actuarial-related evaluations for long-term obligations such as PF, gratuity, insurance, and similar commitments.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, bankers, and insurance partners to support compliance, financing, and risk management needs.
- Manage internal audits, J-SOX controls, statutory audits, and group audits across the finance function.
- Strengthen finance-wide compliance by ensuring internal audit readiness and J-SOX adherence.
- Own policy, SOP, DTP, and annual refresh documentation for finance processes.
- Serve as custodian of the financial authorization matrix and maintain approval structures for financial transactions.
- Develop and maintain the chart of accounts and related financial policy documents.
- Supervise AR and AP operations, including monthly controls and process discipline.
- Drive automation across GL, AP, and AR processes to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Review monthly receivables, analyze ageing, and conduct control discussions with business teams.
- Ensure all payables and receivables are properly recorded, reconciled, and reported.
- Promote RPA adoption and maintain discipline in GRN-related processes.
- Support treasury and insurance-related automation for collections, payments, claims, and renewals.
- Ensure RBI compliance for export and import transactions, including documentation and forex-related requirements.
- Prepare and monitor management reports on working capital performance.
- Track and control budgeted and monthly cash flow plans.
- Work to improve returns while reducing finance costs.
- Manage insurance claims efficiently and oversee annual policy renewals.
- Handle direct and indirect tax compliance, including TDS, assessments, filings, and statutory payments.
- Support APA-related direct tax matters with Japan and manage transfer pricing and local assessments.
- Oversee indirect tax compliance across 39 states.
- Manage PSI benefit applications, claims, and assessments for Indore and Pune investments.
- Lead direct tax audits, filings, governance requirements, and related compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with external auditors such as EY, Deloitte, PwC, and similar firms to secure maximum legitimate tax benefits.
Additional Information
The role calls for broad functional ownership across finance, controls, tax, and compliance, along with close collaboration with internal business teams and external stakeholders. The incumbent is expected to bring strong leadership capability and sound business acumen, preferably from the manufacturing or automotive sector.
Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 16 years of leadership and management experience.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or automotive environments is preferred.
- Relevant background in Finance with strong domain knowledge and business understanding.
- Bachelor of Engineering and/or a post-graduate management qualification will be considered an added advantage, though it is optional.
