Job Overview
A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Hotel General Manager to lead and supervise the operations at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites located in Lebanon, Indiana. This role demands strong leadership abilities, excellent communication, and coordination skills to ensure seamless hotel operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee all operational aspects of the hotel aligned with the organizational structure.
- Conduct regular meetings and briefings with departmental leaders to ensure consistent communication.
- Ensure adherence to operational controls, standard operating procedures, policies, and service excellence standards.
- Manage key hotel concerns including capital projects, customer service, and refurbishment initiatives.
- Address customer complaints and supervise service recovery protocols.
- Prepare, present, and execute the hotel's annual operating budget, marketing and sales strategies, as well as capital expenditure plans.
- Drive ongoing hotel profitability and ensure targets for revenue and guest satisfaction are met or exceeded.
- Make strategic decisions in the hotel's best interests and deliver on both short-term and long-term goals.
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures and continual improvement strategies.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Profit and Loss statements and proactively react with effective business strategies.
- Monitor daily business reports and make informed decisions accordingly.
- Ensure monthly financial forecasts for rooms, food & beverage, and general administration are accurate and on track.
- Maximize room revenue and hotel earnings through innovative sales tactics and yield management programs.
- Provide monthly financial reports to owners and stakeholders.
- Formulate plans and budgets covering revenues and expenses for ownership purposes.
- Assist with procurement of supplies and equipment and negotiate with third-party providers for essential goods and services.
- Serve as the final authority in hiring key personnel.
- Collaborate closely with Heads of Departments (HODs) to execute all activities and functions effectively.
- Oversee all departments, working daily with department leaders to ensure operational excellence.
- Develop the hotel executive team for career growth and professional development.
- Take responsibility for departmental outcomes and guest complaint resolution.
- Provide strong leadership to hotel team members.
- Lead business planning efforts comprehensively.
- Respond proactively to audit findings to promote ongoing improvements.
- Engage corporate clients and contribute to new client acquisition alongside the sales team as needed.
- Support residential sales efforts and foster promising sales opportunities.
- Ensure high standards of operation quality through internal and external audits.
- Maintain compliance with legal requirements such as legalization, Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire safety regulations, and other statutory obligations.
Qualifications
- Possess a university degree in hotel management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in opening, managing, or re-positioning hotels with a proven successful track record.
- Advanced proficiency with computer systems relevant to hotel operations.
- Minimum 15 to 20 years in hospitality industry with extensive experience in luxury and international hotel environments, preferably including remote locations.
- At least 5 to 10 years experience in roles as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager.
