Role Overview
As a General Labourer at SECURE, your primary duties include general labour tasks alongside understanding and working with automated systems like HMI and PLCs, as well as conveyors, metal sorting machines, air compressors, and air dryers. The position requires excellent English communication, strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of work quality. You will be expected to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay late if needed to complete assignments.
Typical Responsibilities
- Inspect, track, and repair conveyor belts and related equipment
- Monitor temperature levels of motors and hydraulic systems, recording data
- Replace faulty machine parts and adjust alignments and clearances using hand and power tools
- Attach moving parts and subassemblies during assembly processes
- Move machinery with hoists, cranes, dollies, and rollers
- Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication and repairs
- Provide technical support, adjust equipment settings, and propose improvements
- Identify and clear equipment jams
- Perform other duties as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum two years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors, year-round
- Capability to work night shift from 9 PM to 6 AM with possible overtime and weekend shifts
Work Environment and Schedule
This is a full-time position based in Edmonton, Alberta, reporting to the ASR/Shredder Plant Manager. The regular workweek is Sunday through Thursday nights from 9 PM to 6 AM. Additional overtime and Saturday shifts may be required to complete tasks.
