The Cook Chill Food Production Center operates on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility, but it is a separate and independent production site. No inmates are present on the premises at any time, and Civeo Premium associates do not have access to or contact with inmates.
Job Summary
This position is for a General Helper who will support meal assembly on a production line, ensuring trays are prepared accurately, efficiently, and in line with food safety, hygiene, and portioning standards. The role includes overseeing meal assembly activities, coordinating tasks among associates, and confirming correct utensil use and cleanliness throughout the process. You will also be responsible for completing final meal counts for standard, special diet, and bulk meal orders, while making sure all shipment records and documentation are completed correctly.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out established procedures and policies for the meal assembly area.
- Use and care for all required PPE and company-provided equipment properly.
- Work in line with workplace health and safety requirements, the OHS Act, and WHMIS rules.
- Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions without delay and assist with any follow-up investigations.
- Follow site rules related to reporting, utensil handling, and approved waste disposal practices.
- Check that meal trays are clean and portions are correct before sealing.
- Build meals according to Diet Assembly Sequence Worksheets and Meal Order Summary Sheets.
- Prepare diets in the correct sequence to reduce allergen cross-contamination, including cleaning and sanitizing steps where needed.
- Use suitable tools to maintain accurate portion control.
- Set up workstations correctly and adjust them for safe, ergonomic use.
- Carry out scooping, product handling, and line-cleanliness tasks according to guidelines.
- Complete end-of-line meal counts and record shipment quantities accurately.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers to help operations run safely and smoothly.
- Work according to scheduled hours, production priorities, and operational demand.
- Follow assigned shift timings and break schedules.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Background in a commercial kitchen, food production, institutional food service, or manufacturing setting, including safe use of food production equipment.
- Experience in regulated workplaces and familiarity with HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, food safety, and health and safety standards.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 25 lbs, repetitive motions, standing for entire shifts, working in cold conditions, and using two-person lift procedures when required.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team, with strong attention to detail, good organization, adaptability, and comfort in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong English communication skills, a service-oriented attitude, and willingness to wear all required PPE.
- Must be prepared to complete Advanced Food Safety Training within 90 days and pass all required screening and security clearance checks.
