Job summary

This Cook Chill Porter position is based at the Cook Chill Food Production Center located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility. The facility operates independently from Maplehurst Corrections, with no inmates on site and no interaction or access to inmates for Civeo Premium associates.

The role focuses on accurate and efficient meal traying on an assembly line, while maintaining strict standards for food safety, portion control, hygiene, and cleanliness. The porter will also help direct tasks for associates, ensure correct utensil use and meal portions, and prepare final meal counts for regular and special diet meals, including bulk orders. All required records and documentation must be completed accurately before shipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Comply with company policies, operating procedures, and workplace health and safety rules, including PPE, OHS, WHMIS, incident reporting, and site-specific protocols.
  • Prepare and assemble meals according to Diet Assembly Sequence Worksheets and Meal Order Summary Sheets, with careful attention to portion accuracy, sanitation, and allergen control.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and properly arranged for efficient and ergonomic operation; carry out scooping, handling, sanitizing, and line-cleaning tasks as instructed.
  • Record final meal counts and production information accurately to support dispatch and day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors and teammates, and work according to assigned schedules, break times, and production priorities.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food production, institutional food service, or manufacturing would be considered an advantage.
  • Must be able to handle physically demanding work, including standing for the full shift and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a cold environment is required.
  • Strong focus on safety, dependability, and teamwork is essential.
  • Must be eligible to obtain the required security clearances, including a criminal record check.
  • Advanced Food Safety Training (FST) must be completed within 90 days of joining.

Work schedule and terms

Working hours and schedules depend on operational needs and are governed by the Collective Agreement. Overtime may be necessary. This role is part of the bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
