Role overview
H2O.ai is seeking a practical, meticulous Accountant to join its finance and accounting function and report to the Accounting Manager. The position suits someone who has worked with ERP platforms, procure-to-pay workflows, general ledger processes, and reconciliations, and who is comfortable in a fast-moving technology environment.
The role supports core accounting operations such as accounts payable, travel and expense processing, cash management, prepayments, and accruals, with a strong focus on accuracy and operational discipline. This is a temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
What you will handle
- Carry out general accounting tasks and month-end close work, including preparing journal entries and reconciling key accounts such as prepayments and accruals.
- Build support schedules and analytical materials for financial statement notes, disclosures, and external audit requests.
- Manage the full accounts payable workflow, from invoice entry and approvals through to timely payment processing using tools such as Bill.com and SAP S/4 Hana.
- Assist with travel and expense reimbursements, enforce expense policy requirements, and reconcile related accounts using platforms such as Navan, Concur, Bill, Expensify, Ramp, NetSuite, and SAP S/4 Hana.
- Oversee cash-related tasks, including bank statement uploads, cash matching, and bank reconciliations.
- Keep vendor master data accurate and support 1099 reporting activities.
- Work with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Sales, FP&A, and People Ops to ensure expenses are coded correctly and invoices are processed on time.
- Support audits and compliance-related initiatives when needed.
What the company is looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Experience in public accounting, ideally with a Big 4 firm or similar, is strongly preferred; alternatively, demonstrated technical accounting capability is acceptable.
- At least 4 years of general accounting experience, preferably in software or technology.
- Hands-on exposure to ERP systems such as SAP S/4 Hana and NetSuite, as well as procure-to-pay tools like Bill.com, Ariba, Navan, and Concur.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and core accounting fundamentals.
- Intermediate Excel capability, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and similar functions, along with comfort using cloud-based finance tools.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Clear communication abilities and the capacity to collaborate across teams.
How to stand out
- Experience managing multi-entity or international accounting operations.
- CPA qualification or progress toward CPA certification.
- Background in financial automation or ERP improvement projects.
- Prior experience in SaaS environments.
- Exposure to monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analysis.
- Previous work with travel and expense systems such as Navan, Expensify, or Concur.
Why join
- Competitive total rewards package.
- Remote-friendly work culture.
- Flexible working setup.
- Opportunity to work with a high-caliber team.
- Strong room for career growth.
