Role Overview
The Gardener position at Jardin Design is a contract-based, on-site role located in Auckland, charged with managing the daily upkeep and aesthetic presentation of residential and commercial gardens. Responsibilities include general gardening duties, lawn mowing and care, weeding, mulching, hedge trimming, pruning, and seasonal planting to maintain healthy and attractive outdoor spaces. The role involves assisting with landscape maintenance such as soft landscaping, garden bed preparation, plant health observation, and basic irrigation system checks with reporting of any issues.
The candidate may also contribute to implementing garden design plans under senior team members' supervision, ensuring tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and with high quality. Collaborating with the Jardin Design team, professionally communicating with clients onsite, and adhering strictly to health and safety procedures are integral aspects of the role.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proficiency in gardening and landscape maintenance practical skills.
- Experience and knowledge in landscaping and gardening techniques.
- Understanding of irrigation systems and water management to promote plant health.
- Ability to identify plants and apply seasonal horticultural knowledge.
- Capability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in diverse weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and capacity to operate independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices; horticulture or landscaping qualifications or equivalent experience are advantageous.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation for travel to various job locations in Auckland.
