Responsibilities
- Help create a positive, respectful atmosphere among team members and work with a service-focused attitude.
- Make shoppers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products sold in the department and elsewhere in the store.
- Build product knowledge so you can explain items accurately and suggest suitable options to customers.
- Share information about frozen food promotions and special offers.
- Recommend frozen products that match customer needs and preferences.
- Inspect merchandise for freshness, check sell-by dates, and take the proper follow-up action when needed.
- Label, stock, and track inventory for department merchandise.
- Escalate product ordering or shipping issues to the department manager.
- Keep up with current, upcoming, seasonal, and featured advertisements.
- Follow all food safety rules and guidelines.
- Maintain correct temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature records up to date.
- Support safety initiatives by following procedures, spotting hazards, and reporting unsafe conditions to store leadership.
- Carry out preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs to the proper manager.
- Report accidents involving customers or associates to management.
- Report safety concerns, policy violations, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, and fraud.
- Perform the essential duties of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to remain effective in stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic math ability, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
- Retail experience is preferred.
