Based in San Francisco and supported by specialists in more than forty markets, the company focuses on tasks that depend on human judgment, such as subject-matter expertise, language nuance, and cultural accuracy.
Perle is looking for a freelance Oromo transcriptionist to work remotely on a paid contract basis. This opportunity is open to qualified contributors anywhere in the world.
Role Overview
You will work with 2-speaker, channel-separated audio in Oromo and turn it into a polished, sequential transcript. Each recording contains two distinct speakers, and your output must include speaker labels and timestamps.
What You'll Do
- Carefully listen to Oromo audio files with two separated speakers.
- Transcribe everything each speaker says with full accuracy.
- Mark every turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, aligned to the correct audio channel.
- Insert timestamps at the beginning of each speaker turn in HH:MM:SS format.
- Keep the transcript in order without any unexplained time gaps.
Requirements
- Native-level or near-native command of Oromo in both spoken and written form.
- Strong Oromo writing skills, including correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Ability to work on your own and meet daily production targets.
- A computer and reliable internet access.
- Availability for a minimum of 4 hours per day.
- Transcription background is helpful but not mandatory; all applicants must complete a qualification test.
Quality Standards
- Delivered transcripts should maintain a Word Error Rate of 5% or lower.
- Speaker labeling must be perfect, with Speaker 1 always matching Channel 1.
- Work will be checked continuously, and feedback will be shared quickly.
- Submissions that miss the quality bar will be sent back for correction.
