Freelance Sports Production Manager (f/m/x) – 360° Immersive

Role Overview

As a Freelance Sports Production Manager specializing in 360° Immersive experiences, you will orchestrate the planning, coordination, and hands-on delivery of immersive sports productions for L1VE. Operating primarily remotely within Europe, you will regularly be required onsite during productions with optional usage of the Berlin office. The role demands ensuring seamless, high-quality production workflows across multiple departments while maintaining budget and schedule integrity under live sports conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive management of immersive sports productions from initial site evaluations and briefings through meticulous production planning to on-location execution.
• Oversee all facets of the production lifecycle including timeline adherence, budget control, quality assurance, and operational fluidity.
• Manage and coordinate cross-disciplinary teams drawn from Technical, Creative, Brand Partnerships, and Post-Production units.
• Collaborate closely with technical teams and assistants on production logistics, resource allocation, and crew scheduling.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets diligently, taking proactive measures when deviations occur.
• Anticipate potential risks and respond pragmatically, maintaining composure and decisiveness in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Provide leadership and support to on-site teams through clear, respectful, and solution-driven communication, even under pressure.
• Maintain transparency with internal stakeholders by effectively managing expectations and dependencies across multiple ongoing projects.

Required Experience and Expertise

• Minimum five years of independent professional experience in live sports, broadcast, or event production.
• Proven capability in budget development and ownership with a sharp understanding of aligning actual spend with planned budgets.
• Expertise handling complex productions involving multiple internal and external parties, sustaining an overarching view.
• Strong proficiency in production planning and control, from initial cost estimation and timetable formation to final budget reconciliation.
• Familiarity with project management and production tools such as Notion, Asana, Google Workspace, or industry-specific software to enhance transparency and workflow control.
• Deep understanding of the pressures and dynamics in live sports environments, adept at navigating last-minute changes and multiple simultaneous dependencies.
• Preferably experienced in freelancing or project-based roles coordinating diverse clients or productions concurrently.

Qualifications

• Academic degree or vocational training in Sports Management, Media or Event Production, Broadcast Media, or equivalent experience in live sports production.
• Established self-employed freelancer able to collaborate on a project basis across multiple productions.
• Fluent German and English proficiency (minimum C1 level preferred), with competency in communicating internationally. Additional languages are advantageous.
• Available for travel at least 50% of the time to be present where the production takes place.
