Freelance Full-Stack Web App Developer

Role Overview

This freelance, part-time remote opportunity is for a Full-Stack Web App Developer to support a Tendem project in a hybrid AI-plus-human workflow. You will create browser-based applications with real functionality, working alongside AI agents that take care of repetitive tasks while you handle engineering decisions, application structure, and final quality checks so the products are reliable for end users.

The work centers on shipping interactive web products end to end, including standalone Python utilities or scripts when the task calls for them. The kinds of products involved may include habit trackers, budgeting tools, internal dashboards, mini-SaaS products, and AI-enabled applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Create dynamic web applications using a modern frontend stack such as React, Next.js, Vue, or an equivalent framework, paired with a backend API built in Python or Node.js.
• Plan and implement database structures, schemas, and persistence using SQL or NoSQL technologies.
• Add authentication, session handling, and simple role-based access controls where needed.
• Connect third-party APIs and AI/LLM services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar tools into product features.
• Manage application state, input validation, error handling, and loading behavior in a polished way.
• Develop standalone Python scripts and lightweight tools for data handling, API integration, and backend support tasks.
• Review AI-generated full-stack code, then improve it for correctness, security, speed, and maintainability.
• Write clean, testable code and troubleshoot issues that span the frontend, backend, and database layers.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in full-stack development or in building interactive web applications.
• Strong command of JavaScript or TypeScript, along with one modern frontend framework such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Svelte.
• Solid backend experience with Python frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django, and/or Node.js frameworks like Express or NestJS.
• Practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite, including basic schema design.
• Ability to build REST APIs, perform request validation, manage error flows, and implement authentication processes.
• Familiarity with deployment services such as Vercel, Netlify, Render, Fly.io, Railway, or similar platforms.
• Experience using LLM APIs or other AI services is a strong advantage.
• Comfort with Git and foundational testing practices.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on producing working, production-ready software rather than demos.
• Independent working style with the ability to architect, build, and deliver features end to end.
• A portfolio that shows shipped web applications.
• English proficiency at upper-intermediate level (B2) or higher.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field is a plus.

Workload and Compensation

During active phases, the expected workload is about 10 to 20 hours per week. This is only an estimate and not a guaranteed number of hours, and it applies only while the project is active.

Compensation can reach the equivalent of $60 per hour, depending on level and pace of contribution. Pay may vary across projects based on scope, complexity, and the expertise required.
