The studio comprises highly skilled and passionate artists committed to innovating animation production practices within the industry.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented Color Artist to shape the visual tone and atmosphere of our illustrations. This remote freelance position includes a 3-month trial period with potential for ongoing collaboration. You will work closely with the Art Director and 2D Line Artists, focusing primarily on developing color keys and delivering finalized illustrated characters and environments consistent with our established in-house IPs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive color keys that establish lighting, atmosphere, color palettes, and mood derived from thumbnails and reference materials.
• Create polished final renderings from approved color keys using clean line art files.
• Ensure strict compliance with the project's defined visual style and artistic standards.
• Incorporate feedback from Art Directors constructively to enhance final outputs maintaining high production quality.
• Maintain well-organized and production-ready digital file structures for seamless pipeline integration.

Additional Duties

• Assist the art direction team by generating initial thumbnail sketches and composition suggestions as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Expertise in color theory, environmental lighting, and advanced digital rendering techniques.
• Ability to adapt to various rendering approaches, ranging from intricate painterly styles to clean cell-shaded visuals.
• Strong narrative sensibility to express story elements, mood, and emotion through color and light.
• Solid grasp of composition principles to maintain clarity and visual hierarchy in complex imagery.
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop at an advanced level.
• Capacity to effectively integrate into an established studio workflow and pipeline procedures.
• Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Bonus Skills

• Knowledge of print production processes, technical specifications, and constraints is a plus.
• Experience with project management platforms like Airtable or similar tools is advantageous.
