Fragrance Evaluator

About the role

This position is for an experienced Perfumer and Fragrance Evaluator who can combine creative fragrance design with rigorous scent assessment. The role belongs to a fast-expanding business in the beauty and fragrance space and requires someone who can turn ideas into market-ready scents while also judging fragrance quality, behavior, and fit with consumer expectations.

The successful candidate should have a well-trained sense of smell, solid technical knowledge of fragrance ingredients, and an understanding of changing preferences in both local and global markets.

Fragrance development

• Create original fragrance formulas for fine fragrances, home products, and personal care items.
• Convert creative briefs into scent profiles that match the brand’s identity and the intended customer group.
• Choose and combine raw materials to deliver the desired scent structure, performance, and product stability.
• Keep developing new scent directions by experimenting with fresh accords, ingredients, and fragrance technologies.

Fragrance evaluation and quality assurance

• Perform structured evaluation of fragrance samples, benchmark products, and competitor offerings.
• Judge performance based on factors such as lasting power, projection, stability, and dry-down.
• Share clear and evidence-based feedback to improve formulas and product outcomes.
• Make sure all fragrances align with internal quality expectations, regulatory rules, and market needs.

Market and trend analysis

• Track fragrance trends, ingredient developments, and consumer behavior at both regional and global levels.
• Compare competitor products to spot market gaps and new opportunities for innovation.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the fragrance direction supports brand and business strategy.

Cross-functional collaboration and R&D support

• Work with product development, sourcing, and marketing teams through the full product lifecycle.
• Take part in testing rounds to help maintain fragrance consistency across batches.
• Assist in supplier interactions and review raw materials and fragrance house options.

Candidate profile

This role suits a professional with formal training or relevant background in perfumery, chemistry, cosmetic science, or a closely related field. Prior hands-on experience in fragrance creation and/or fragrance assessment within the perfume or beauty sector is expected, and a strong portfolio showing development work is a significant advantage.

You should bring advanced olfactory sensitivity, the ability to identify and explain complex compositions, and strong working knowledge of fragrance ingredients, accords, and formulation methods. Familiarity with industry regulations and quality standards is also important.

The ideal candidate will be creative yet commercially aware, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating across teams. You should be able to balance artistic direction with performance requirements and cost considerations.
