About 9fin
9fin is an AI-driven platform revolutionizing the global debt markets, which represent the largest asset class worldwide at over $145 trillion. Traditional debt market workflows rely on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual processes. 9fin streamlines this by providing a centralized platform combining proprietary credit data, in-depth analysis, and essential workflows for global markets.
Currently, 9fin serves over 300 leading institutions including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The company is rapidly expanding, notably in the US, and maintains exceptional customer retention fueled by strong workflow integration.
With solid product-market fit and robust global demand, 9fin is poised to become the definitive platform for the debt markets worldwide.
Role Overview
The FP&A Manager role is a critical, high-impact position integral to the company's rapidly growing finance function. Reporting closely with the Senior Strategic Finance & FP&A Manager, this position bridges finance, commercial, and operational teams. The role is proactive and strategic rather than numbers processing in the background. Responsibilities include forming insightful perspectives, narrating data-driven stories, challenging assumptions, and continuously enhancing finance function efficiency and speed.
The FP&A function at 9fin is evolving, providing the successful candidate with a genuine opportunity to shape planning, reporting, and business partnership processes, while growing professionally alongside company expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting cycles by gathering input across departments, stress-testing assumptions, and consolidating views that align with business realities.
- Develop and sustain sophisticated financial models for scenario analysis, headcount planning, and extended forecasting horizons.
- Convert financial plans into actionable goals for commercial and operational teams, ensuring company-wide understanding and ownership of budgets.
- Regularly refine forecasting methods to enhance accuracy and incorporate actual performance feedback.
- Support board and investor communications through data modelling, narrative creation, and presentation preparations.
- Manage headcount and financial models and design reports for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) that transform figures into clear, actionable narratives.
- Create comprehensive variance analyses explaining what occurred, why, and what implications exist for 9fin.
- Design and maintain key performance indicator dashboards and reporting frameworks to provide real-time insights into critical business metrics.
- Monitor and report SaaS-specific metrics such as Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), Net Revenue Retention (NRR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), churn, and cohort performance to align finance and commercial insights.
- Collaborate with the Finance Systems Lead to ensure clean and timely source data feeds fueling reporting infrastructure.
- Assist with developing investor-facing financial outputs as company milestones approach.
- Build strong business partnerships across commercial, product, and operations teams to deliver financial insights that add value and support decision-making.
- Analyze sales pipelines, revenue trends, and guide better decision-making.
- Support workforce planning and hiring decisions by providing transparent financial analyses comparing plan against actuals.
- Provide ad hoc analyses such as investment justifications, risk assessments, and opportunity identification.
- Harness AI and automation daily to expedite reconciliations, automate repetitive analyses, validate data, and transform manual processes into standardized workflows.
- Work closely with the Finance Systems Lead to embed automation throughout the FP&A function, from data input to report delivery.
- Evaluate and contribute insights on AI-powered FP&A platforms including forecasting tools and business intelligence software for potential investment.
- Promote a culture of intelligent, technology-driven finance practices by sharing best practices and knowledge.
Candidate Profile
- Solid foundation in FP&A, preferably within a SaaS or high-growth tech environment requiring rapid adaptation and commercial savvy.
- Proven experience using AI tools practically in daily work to enhance analysis, automate routine tasks, and increase efficiency.
- Deep understanding of SaaS commercial metrics and underlying business model dynamics such as ARR, NRR, churn, cohort analysis, and unit economics.
- Expertise in building clean, user-friendly financial models that serve business users effectively.
- Ability to communicate data-driven stories clearly through written commentary, dashboards, and presentations to senior stakeholders.
- Strong business partnering skills with capacity to form meaningful relationships and provide valuable insights beyond the numbers.
- Adept at navigating ambiguity, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines independently.
- Effective communicator with finance and non-finance teams, confident discussing technical methods as well as presenting to executives.
- Intellectually curious, self-driven, and eager to develop a forward-thinking finance function.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity or experience with specialized FP&A and forecasting software platforms.
- Exposure to investor relations or fundraising efforts and understanding of the financial narratives involved.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary
- Equity options
- Pension plan with a 3% employer contribution, employee contributions uncapped
- Private medical insurance including dental and vision coverage
Leave and Work Arrangement
- 25 vacation days annually
- Local public holidays with option to exchange for alternative days
- Hybrid work model with time in office in London
- Opportunity to work abroad for up to three months each year
- One-month paid sabbatical after five years of service
- Enhanced parental leave and flexible working options
Development and Culture
- Budget allocated for professional learning and development
- Bi-annual social team events
- Company-wide summer and winter celebrations
