Recognizing the challenges finance teams face with juggling multiple tools—accounting software, banking portals, spreadsheets, and payment systems—Pacific Treasury is creating an AI-powered Treasury Operating System to unify these into a single intelligent environment.

Role Overview

We seek a Founding CTO who will act as a technical co-founder, collaborating closely with the company's founder. This role differs from conventional engineering positions as it entails shaping the startup from its inception by setting the technical vision, building the minimum viable product, making critical architectural decisions, and eventually leading the growth of the engineering team.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop an AI-driven Treasury Workspace.
• Construct a Treasury Workflow Engine.
• Create an AI Copilot tailored for finance teams.
• Implement integrations with Xero accounting software.
• Build and maintain banking and payment infrastructure.
• Manage global payment orchestration systems.
• Develop cash flow intelligence tools.

Desired Experience and Skills

While not all qualifications are mandatory, experience in the following areas is highly valued:

• Full-stack development expertise using technologies like React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Backend system design with Node.js, NestJS, Go, or related languages.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL databases and cloud infrastructure setups.
• API-first product development experience.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM (large language models) applications and AI agents.
• A startup-oriented mindset coupled with strong ownership capabilities.
• Superior problem-solving aptitude.

Additional experience in fintech, treasury, payments, or accounting platforms is considered a significant advantage.

Location and Employment

This role is remote, preferably with availability overlapping New Zealand time zones. The position is full-time.

Compensation

The compensation package includes founder equity with a salary to be determined as the company grows.
