About the Role
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking three Online Volunteers to support the creation of compelling founder spotlight content for its social media platforms. This is a remote, short-term, task-based assignment focused on showcasing African founders and their startups. The goal is to enhance community visibility for the timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation programme through engaging written profiles.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on assigned timbuktoo startups and founders using publicly available information and provided background materials.
- Write a 120–160 word profile for each featured founder and their startup.
- Develop a condensed caption (40–60 words) suitable for Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Create carousel-formatted content for Instagram and LinkedIn based on the founder spotlights.
- Deliver 24 pieces of written content in total (12 LinkedIn posts and 12 corresponding Instagram captions/LinkedIn carousels) on a weekly rolling basis over 12 weeks.
- Collaborate with other online volunteers who will be responsible for sourcing and editing video content.
Assignment Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in English writing, with prior experience in creating short-form profiles, bios, or feature articles.
- Proven ability to research individuals and organizations effectively using online resources.
- Familiarity with content formats commonly used on LinkedIn and Instagram.
- A genuine interest in African entrepreneurship, startup ecosystems, or innovation.
- Ability to commit 16-20 hours per week.
Additional Information
This is an Online Volunteering assignment. It is a short-term, task-based, and non-contractual remote assignment. Online Volunteers are not UN Volunteers and do not receive any allowance or entitlements. A certificate of appreciation will be provided upon successful completion. The UNV is not involved in the selection process or collaboration.
