About Lumanity
Lumanity works to help improve health outcomes by speeding up and refining access to medicines that can change lives. Operating as a global strategic partner, the company combines strategy, evidence, engagement, and technology to create breakthrough value and solve complex client challenges by transforming how value is created, proven, and communicated.
Role Summary
The team is seeking a strong Medical Writer with solid scientific knowledge, the ability to turn data into a clear scientific narrative for the intended audience, a genuine interest in communications, and excellent writing ability. The role calls for someone who is highly detail-oriented, performs well in a fast-moving environment, and can manage competing priorities with ease.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality written materials across a wide variety of medical communications projects, such as extended outlines, first-draft manuscripts, symposium materials, advisory board content, training programmes, and detail aids, while showing a strong grasp of the science and data supporting client strategy and messaging.
- Develop content independently with limited oversight, ensuring work is delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Use client review and approval systems as needed.
- Stay current with new developments in the assigned therapy area(s) and in the wider medical communications field, and share relevant updates with project teams and clients when appropriate.
- Present work to clients during project calls when required.
- Attend conferences and external meetings and provide summaries or reports as needed.
- Prepare sections of proposals without assistance and present or pitch those sections when needed.
- Take ownership of day-to-day client communication and the relationships connected to written deliverables.
- Proactively coordinate with clients and internal teams to manage expectations, identify potential issues early, and escalate or defer appropriately when necessary.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold an advanced qualification in a life sciences discipline, demonstrate careful attention to detail, and be comfortable handling several projects at once across multiple products and therapeutic areas.
Additional Requirements
- A life sciences graduate with a PhD, PharmD, or MD qualification required.
- Prior experience as a medical writer in a healthcare communications agency or a similar setting, or being a recent graduate of an accredited PhD, PharmD, or MD program.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with strong command of English.
- Very strong attention to detail in both scientific accuracy and editorial quality.
- Ability to tailor writing style for different formats and audiences.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with referencing tools and database searching is preferred.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation with an annual bonus scheme.
- Private health insurance, along with enhanced dental and optical coverage.
- Generous pension provision.
- 25 days of paid leave plus 8 bank holidays.
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay for employees with at least 2 years of service.
- Access to a comprehensive mortgage advisor service.
- Group income protection.
- Life assurance at 4 times base salary.
- EV car scheme and additional benefits.
