This internship is designed as an ideal summer experience for students who have completed their penultimate year of study, offering a hands-on introduction to the field they aim to pursue after graduation. The internship commences with a two-day orientation in the office to familiarize interns with corporate expectations and roles. It starts in mid-November, following university exams, includes a three-week pause over Christmas and New Year, and concludes in early February, before interns resume their final year of university studies. The program includes over 150 peers engaging in collaborative learning and career development.

After signing the contract, interns receive ongoing support, including connection with a buddy for guidance and integration into the Deloitte community before their start date. Interns interested in a graduate role may receive mentorship and feedback to maximize their opportunities. Notably, many interns secure graduate positions post-internship without reapplying.

Role Overview

The Forensics team assists clients in addressing complex issues related to integrity, fraud, financial crimes, disputes, and investigations. Combining expertise in accounting, analytics, technology, and investigation, the team helps organizations manage risks, uncover insights, and respond effectively.

Our forensic professionals serve a variety of industries such as Financial Services, Government, Energy, Telecommunications, Healthcare, and Consumer Products. The New Zealand team consists of over 30 specialists who manage high-profile challenges for clients nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize advanced technology and analytical techniques to examine financial documents and data, identifying discrepancies and critical findings.
• Participate in diverse forensic engagements across multiple sectors, delivering services including accounting reviews and investigations.
• Apply data analytics tools to process, integrate, and analyze substantial datasets to resolve intricate client issues and generate actionable insights.
• Collaborate with experienced forensic experts, developing essential skills across various client projects.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• No prior professional experience is necessary, although involvement in part-time roles, internships, or extracurricular activities showcasing analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities is advantageous.
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program related to Commerce, Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Law, or similar fields.
• Strong analytical mindset and genuine interest in leveraging accounting, data, and technology to tackle complex business challenges.
• Eager to learn quickly with an inquisitive nature and ability to acquire new skills rapidly.
• Highly motivated, curious, and ambitious with resilience to adapt and overcome challenges in a dynamic environment.
• Meticulous attention to detail, sound judgement, and a cooperative team approach.
