Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity at a school cafeteria in Academy, Northern Region, Uganda. The position is suited to dependable people who enjoy practical work, teamwork, and contributing to a safe and welcoming meal service for students and staff.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will support everyday cafeteria operations by preparing food, serving meals, keeping the kitchen and serving areas clean, and helping the team keep service running smoothly.
- Prepare and serve meals according to recipes, production records, and food safety expectations.
- Keep the kitchen, service counters, and dining support areas clean and orderly.
- Restock serving lines, salad bars, and milk coolers.
- Follow correct procedures for food storage, stock rotation, and sanitation.
- Serve students, staff, and visitors politely and professionally.
- Help receive deliveries and arrange inventory.
- Sweep, mop, and remove waste when needed.
- Comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and company health rules.
- Support coworkers, cover shifts when necessary, and assist the kitchen team as required.
- Prepare reports and complete assigned tasks by required deadlines.
- Take on any other duties needed to support the school meal program.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone with a strong work ethic who is comfortable following routines and handling repeated tasks. Previous experience in food service or cleaning is helpful but not mandatory.
- Ability to work well with others in a team-based setting.
- Basic comfort with routine, repetitive work.
- Simple math and computer literacy.
- Willingness to undergo background and fingerprint checks.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Interest in working around children and being part of a school environment.
- Respectful, inclusive, and professional behavior toward coworkers and customers.
Work Conditions
This role requires physical stamina and a readiness to work in a busy kitchen setting. You should be able to remain on your feet for a full shift and manage regular movement throughout the day.
- Stand for the entire shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent bending, reaching, walking, and hand use.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with moderate kitchen noise.
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional longer weeks.
- May be asked to attend company events or meetings.
