About the Role

Avoca is a long-established Irish retailer with 13 stores nationwide, known for its foodhalls, restaurants, and food markets featuring artisan ingredients from Ireland and beyond. The business combines a heritage of craftsmanship with a forward-looking retail approach.

This is a full-time permanent Team Lead position at the Kilmacanoge Foodhall in County Wicklow. The role supports the management team in day-to-day store operations and steps into a leadership role within the department when a manager is unavailable.

Key Duties

  • Support the wider management team with daily store operations and department-level leadership when required.
  • Handle opening and closing tasks for the foodhall in line with manager instructions.
  • Assist with cash management activities, including reconciliation, safe counts, and cash drops.
  • Help coordinate daily employee breaks and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and satisfactory manner.
  • Take payments, process refunds, and manage customer transactions accurately.
  • Promote additional items, suggest alternatives for unavailable products, and encourage customers to explore the range.
  • Contribute to teamwork and ensure strong shift coverage, especially when management is not on site.

What the Role Requires

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the food sector and a proven willingness to take on responsibility. Experience in sales and working with food is required. The role also calls for strong customer focus, reliable timekeeping, teamwork, and flexibility around roster changes and cover in different areas of the store.
