About the Role
The Food Technologist specializing in Regulatory Affairs and Food Safety Compliance will oversee the enforcement of food safety standards and regulatory requirements across ITC Hotels and affiliated brands. This position ensures strict adherence to food legislation, facilitates regulatory approvals, and strengthens compliance protocols while partnering with diverse teams to maintain consistent food safety and labeling practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and interpret updates, advisories, and amendments issued by FSSAI.
- Lead compliance efforts related to FSSAI across all locations in India.
- Evaluate food labeling, nutrition declarations, ingredient criteria, and menu compliance for multiple hotel brands including ITC Hotels, Welcomhotel, Storii, Mementos, and Fortune Hotels.
- Collaborate with Culinary, WelcomLab, Procurement, Quality, and Operations departments on compliance issues.
- Create and maintain compliance trackers, standard operating procedures, and guidance documents.
- Assist with licensing and regulatory approvals for new hotel launches.
- Perform periodic audits to identify compliance gaps and suggest corrective and preventive measures.
- Ensure regulatory documentation is up-to-date and manage renewals of food licenses and permits.
- Support internal and external audits by supplying relevant regulatory documentation and expertise.
- Organize training sessions to raise awareness about food safety regulations among stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
- Have 4 to 8 years of professional experience in regulatory affairs, food safety, quality assurance, or compliance within sectors such as food manufacturing, hospitality, FMCG, quick-service restaurants, or food service.
- Demonstrate solid expertise in Indian food safety regulations, including FSSAI labeling, licensing, and standards.
- Knowledge of food safety management frameworks like HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP is beneficial.
- Exhibit strong analytical capabilities, documentation skills, ability to manage stakeholders, and effective communication, working well within cross-functional teams.
