Job description
Overview
We are looking to fill immediate openings for full-time and part-time Food Service Worker roles supporting school dining operations in LaGrange, Georgia. The work is based at Troup County School Nutrition, and the role involves serving across one of seventeen school cafeterias in the district. Applications are accepted online only.
Schedule and Pay
Shift patterns are available for both full-time and part-time hires, with days that may differ. Typical hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, though additional details will be shared during the interview. This role pays a fixed rate of $13.00 per hour.
Role Summary
This position focuses on preparing, presenting, and serving food while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer service in a school cafeteria setting.
Key Duties
- Handle basic prep tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
- Measure ingredients accurately using proper weighing and measuring methods.
- Move food pans, kettles, and trays safely between workstations, ovens/stoves, and refrigerators.
- Store ingredients and prepared food in the correct locations while following wrapping, dating, rotation, and food safety procedures.
- Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and sanitary.
- Set out supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
- Prepare and serve menu items according to approved recipes, production standards, portion sizes, and temperature requirements.
- Provide courteous and efficient service to students and other customers.
- Address customer concerns and pass relevant issues to a supervisor.
- Follow company procedures for service standards, inventory control, and cash handling.
- Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety rules.
- Take on additional duties when assigned.
Experience and Qualifications
Previous food service experience is preferred but not mandatory. The role may require working in one of the seventeen school cafeterias in Troup County. Because this is an educational facility, there may be unpaid periods during breaks such as winter or summer if food service demand drops or stops. In some cases, you may be asked to work year-round, possibly at a different site during break periods, depending on business needs. Some positions may also require Florida Level 2 background screening. The workplace is drug-free.
