Role overview
This full-time position supports school cafeteria operations in the Greater Jackson Area. The role centers on preparing and serving meals for students and staff while keeping the kitchen and serving areas orderly, sanitary, and running smoothly. It suits dependable, team-oriented people who enjoy practical work and contributing to a positive school dining environment.
What you’ll do
- Prepare and portion meals in line with recipes, production logs, and food safety rules.
- Serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a polite and professional way.
- Keep the kitchen, serving counters, and dining support areas clean and safe.
- Replenish serving stations, salad bars, and milk coolers as needed.
- Store food correctly, rotate inventory, and follow sanitation procedures.
- Receive deliveries, put supplies away, and help keep inventory organized.
- Sweep, mop, and dispose of trash when required.
- Support coworkers, cover shifts, and step in wherever the team needs help.
- Complete assigned reports and meet required deadlines.
- Take on additional duties that help the kitchen team and school meal program operate effectively.
What we’re looking for
- Prior experience in food service or cleaning is helpful, though not mandatory.
- A dependable work style and the ability to collaborate well with others.
- Comfort with repetitive tasks and following set routines.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint screening.
- Reliable transportation.
- Interest in working around children and contributing to a school setting.
- A respectful, inclusive, and professional attitude toward coworkers and customers.
Work environment and physical demands
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday.
- Occasional extended weeks may be required.
- May need to attend company events or meetings.
- Must be able to remain on your feet for an entire shift.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Regular bending, reaching, walking, and hand use are part of the job.
- Work takes place in a busy kitchen environment with moderate noise and frequent movement.
