Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Food Safety & Hygiene Technologist to join a dynamic team supporting food manufacturing clients located throughout Central and Southern England, primarily within an 80-mile radius of Oxford and Northamptonshire. This role blends technical expertise with customer engagement in a field-based position that involves both on-site visits and administrative home working.
Working Hours and Location
- Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week
- Field-based position requiring extensive travel with homeworking for administration
- Flexibility to accommodate customer schedules, including occasional evenings and out-of-hours site visits

Key Responsibilities
- Perform hygiene and compliance audits within various food manufacturing facilities
- Conduct assessments of chemical usage and inspect site hygiene standards
- Provide training to customers on hygiene best practices, chemical safety, and product applications
- Assist clients with audit preparation and ensuring food safety compliance
- Offer practical suggestions to enhance hygiene standards and operational effectiveness
- Stay informed about current legislation, industry standards, and food safety developments
- Develop strong relationships with customers across multiple locations
- Advise on appropriate hygiene solutions tailored to client needs
- Support Key Account Managers with proposals, quotations, and presentations
- Identify and leverage opportunities for improved hygiene processes and compliance
- Coordinate visits, ongoing support, and service activities with clients
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports and maintain detailed compliance documentation
- Analyze customer data to detect trends and identify areas for improvement
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates have a passion for food safety, hygiene, and compliance within manufacturing environments. Current or past roles may include Food Safety Technician, Hygiene Technologist, Quality Technician, Technical Assistant, Compliance Officer, Quality Auditor, Graduate Food Technologist, or Environmental Health Professional.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant experience in food manufacturing, safety, hygiene, or compliance
- Understanding of HACCP and fundamental food safety principles
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with excellent report writing skills
- Proactive, practical approach to problem-solving
- Capability to work independently and manage a personal schedule
- Possession of a valid full UK driving license
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with certification standards such as BRC, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, and retailer audit requirements
- Experience in delivering technical training and customer support
- Knowledge of CRM systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
