Role Overview
The Food Quality Specialist will play a crucial role in upholding food safety and quality assurance by ensuring all raw materials, products, and production stages meet established quality standards and regulatory criteria. This position requires a committed professional with keen attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge of food quality and safety protocols to guarantee the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing proactive quality control checks and prepare daily quality assessments and summaries.
- Maintain accurate documentation of quality reports, statistical analysis, and related records.
- Produce weekly and monthly quality performance reports and scorecards.
- Perform inspections following set procedures and document any quality concerns.
- Oversee production processes impacting product quality and safety.
- Apply preventative actions to reduce food safety and quality risks.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of required audits, inspections, and quality-related activities.
- Conduct Supplier Quality Assurance audits and communicate results to relevant teams.
- Investigate customer complaints and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and aid corrective action implementation.
- Review production procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with quality criteria.
- Support food quality initiatives and organizational objectives.
- Manage food safety programs, including HACCP, sanitation, temperature monitoring, and cleaning routines.
- Monitor production consistency and reliability by overseeing processes and finished goods.
- Ensure adherence to local food safety laws and quality standards.
- Identify defects and recurring safety issues, proposing effective corrective measures.
- Train staff on food safety best practices and facilitate policy adoption to enhance daily operations.
- Maintain safe and hygienic work environments.
- Represent the organization positively towards employees, customers, partners, and the community.
- Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory, and food safety obligations.
Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
- Familiarity with quality assurance methods and food safety standards.
- Knowledge of AIB International (AIBI) and BRCGS standards is an advantage.
- Understanding of local food regulatory and statutory requirements.
- At least 3 to 4 years of practical experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety within food manufacturing, central kitchens, catering, or food production sectors.
- Experience in fast-paced food production environments is highly desirable.
- Preference for candidates residing locally, though applicants from abroad may be considered based on visa availability.
