Food Counter Attendant

Overview

This is a full-time, on-site food counter attendant position in Powell River, British Columbia. The role involves supporting day-to-day service at a food counter, helping with food preparation, customer orders, cleaning, dish handling, and general kitchen upkeep.

Education

No formal certificate, diploma, or degree is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Carry linens and replace them as needed.
• Clean and sanitize dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units.
• Clear tables, trays, and chairs, then clean them thoroughly.
• Load buspans and trays for service or washing.
• Run dishwashers to clean dishes, glassware, and flatware.
• Store cleaned dishes in the proper storage area.
• Refill condiments and other supplies at tables and service counters.
• Wash and sanitize dishes and related items by hand when required.
• Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items.
• Restock refrigerators and salad bars.
• Take customer orders accurately.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage spaces, appliances, and equipment.
• Receive deliveries, unpack supplies, and store them in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
• Remove kitchen garbage and trash.

Working conditions

The work is fast-paced and may require standing for long periods. You should be comfortable working under pressure.

Transportation

Own transportation is required.

Schedule

This permanent role follows a 40-hour work week and may include day, morning, evening, night, weekend, shift, and on-call work.

Experience

Previous experience is not required, as training will be provided.

Language

Work is conducted in English.
