Role overview
The Metropole Hotel in Cork is looking for a part-time Food & Beverage Assistant to join its bar and restaurant team on Cork MacCurtain Street. This position suits someone who enjoys front-of-house service, likes working closely with guests, and performs well in a lively team environment.
Key duties
- Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and wear the correct uniform.
- Keep the service area and still room neat, organised, and hygienic.
- Arrange tables according to the required setting.
- Support linen stock control.
- Prepare mise-en-place for the following shift.
- Make sure service stations are fully set up, cleaned, and replenished.
- Prepare the working area for the next shift.
- Take customer orders, process bills, and complete end-of-shift cashing up.
- Work across the restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, or banqueting spaces as needed.
- Serve food and drinks during functions in line with group standards.
- Maintain cleanliness in the restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, and banqueting areas at all times.
- Follow hygiene rules carefully and consistently.
- Check floats accurately and report any discrepancies.
- Handle drink and food service efficiently where required.
- Share information about hotel services and facilities with guests when needed.
- Deal with guest complaints professionally and escalate them to management.
- Ensure guest needs and expectations are met.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Take reasonable care to protect your own safety and the safety of colleagues, guests, and others on site.
- Take part in fire drills and follow all safety procedures.
- Report incidents, accidents, or damage and take action where possible.
- Attend monthly departmental meetings.
- Join training sessions arranged by management.
- Complete any other reasonable tasks assigned by management.
- Keep fire doors closed and fire routes clear at all times.
- Follow company rules on fire safety, health and safety, hygiene, food hygiene, customer care, and security.
