Role overview
The Langham Hotel Melbourne is hiring motivated and enthusiastic team members for several food and beverage service roles. Opportunities are available in Melba Restaurant for breakfast service, in Private Kitchen/In-room Dining, and at Aria Bar and Lounge, where prior bar experience is necessary.
This is a chance to join a large food and beverage department of around 110 colleagues and develop your hospitality skills in a service-driven environment. The role is well suited to someone who wants to build a long-term career with The Langham and grow through dedication, teamwork, and high standards.
Key duties
You will play an important part in delivering a polished guest experience and maintaining the service quality expected in a luxury hotel setting.
- Provide food and beverage service in a professional manner, following established etiquette and presentation standards.
- Use strong bar and cocktail knowledge where required.
- Know the menu and wine list well enough to answer questions and guide guests confidently.
- Make suitable food and beverage suggestions based on guest needs.
- Ensure dishes and drinks are served with the correct presentation and quality.
- Follow liquor licensing rules and handle situations involving intoxicated or underage guests appropriately.
- Remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Requirements and attributes
The successful candidate will bring a strong service mindset, professional presentation, and the flexibility needed for varied shifts.
- Good knowledge of beverages and bar service, together with barista capability.
- Current Victorian RSA certification is mandatory.
- Current Victorian food handler certification is required; applicants may need to obtain this before starting if they do not already have it.
- Strong commitment to customer service excellence.
- Excellent grooming, personal presentation, and hygiene standards.
- High attention to detail.
- Understanding of safe food handling practices.
- Positive, energetic approach to work.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle cash accurately.
- Adaptable and flexible with shifting work demands.
- Previous experience in a similar hospitality role is preferred.
- Availability to work across different shifts is required.
