Job Overview
The Plant Maintenance Specialist plays a vital role in comprehending plant operations and advancing site objectives. This position focuses on conducting thorough equipment inspections, carrying out preventative and routine maintenance with little supervision, and supporting more extensive repair tasks. It provides an opportunity to develop specialized technical skills and a deeper understanding of operational processes.
Work Schedule
This role operates on a night shift, typically from 3 PM to 11 PM.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment to identify potential issues, lubricate all moving components, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot and replace standard mechanical parts, such as conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
- Carry out structural repairs and hard facing, and replace heavy-wear components like crusher liners and shaker screens using welding, cutting, and grinding tools.
- Comply rigorously with safety regulations mandated by MSHA and OSHA, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Monitor aggregate crushing, washing, and screening processes during operation to detect irregularities through observation and sound, making minor operational adjustments as necessary.
- Document service activities, lubrication efforts, and maintenance performed on plant equipment accurately in logs and reports.

Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Previous relevant experience or demonstrated skill in similar maintenance roles is necessary.
- Understanding of plant operations, equipment inspection protocols, maintenance routines, troubleshooting, and larger repair procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Experience in using various hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
- Knowledge of small electrical equipment maintenance and replacement.
- Familiarity with MSHA standards and safety requirements for plant maintenance environments.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
