Job description

Role overview

An established private wealth team in Sydney is seeking a Fixed Income Investment Analyst for an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role. The role is based in Sydney CBD and supports high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients through technical investment analysis and portfolio support.

This is a non-client-facing position focused on producing detailed analytical outputs, assisting with portfolio reviews, and supporting the management and implementation of multi-asset and direct fixed income portfolios. The opportunity suits someone with strong technical investment capability, a high level of analytical discipline, and a preference for deep research over relationship management.

What you will do

  • Carry out detailed research on fixed income instruments, market conditions, and macroeconomic developments to shape investment ideas and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain advanced financial models to evaluate the risk and return characteristics of fixed income assets.
  • Track portfolio performance and prepare reporting that highlights areas where returns or positioning can be improved.
  • Work with the Investment Committee to refine and implement fixed income strategy.
  • Perform performance, attribution, and risk analysis across discretionary and advisory portfolios.
  • Prepare timely market commentary and investment updates for private wealth clients.
  • Assist with trade execution across fixed income, equities, ETFs, and alternative investments where required.
  • Support the broader Private Wealth team with investment analysis, portfolio construction, and client servicing activities.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will bring a strong academic background in finance, economics, or a related field, along with substantial hands-on experience in fixed income and multi-asset portfolio analysis. CFA certification, or an equivalent professional designation, will be viewed favourably.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in fixed income or multi-asset portfolio analysis is expected, ideally gained in private wealth or asset management. The role also calls for strong research, valuation, and portfolio construction expertise, along with the ability to turn complex information into practical recommendations.

Success in this position will depend on strong communication skills, confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, and proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, and FactSet.

Additional information

This is an initial 12-month contract with the potential to be extended or move into a permanent appointment.

The role is based onsite in Sydney CBD.
