Job description
The opportunity
This role sits within the Arsenal Women Football Club (AWFC) Medical and Performance team and is central to supporting the health, recovery and performance of the First Team and Academy squads. You will work alongside the Performance Physiotherapist, Female Health Physiotherapist and Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to deliver medical support that helps players stay fit, recover well and perform at their best.
The position involves hands-on matchday coverage, day-to-day treatment, injury rehabilitation and collaboration across the wider performance department.
Key duties
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with players to positively influence health, performance, injury reduction and recovery.
- Contribute to high-quality injury management and rehab planning, including collecting and reviewing data to spot patterns and potential injury factors, supporting recovery strategies, and overseeing the return-to-performance stage.
- Provide medical cover at matches and training, including pitchside support and the organisation, upkeep, transport and packing of medical equipment.
- Assess injuries, design and lead appropriate rehabilitation programmes, share return-to-play timelines with colleagues, and help shape decision-based frameworks for commonly seen injuries.
- Use physiotherapy and exercise-based methods to improve availability and performance across the squad.
- Work closely with the physiotherapy and broader medical/performance teams to review treatment effectiveness, share decisions around prevention and treatment, and provide daily written and verbal updates to the Head Coach on player availability and injury status.
- Maintain productive relationships with international team medical staff to support smooth player transitions between club and international duty and to receive timely feedback on returning players.
- Support the delivery and audit of cardiac screening for the First Team and Academy squads, and help maintain the FA injury audit with other physiotherapists.
- Assist with pre-signing medical assessments for new AWFC players to confirm they are fit to meet the requirements of their contract.

Qualifications and experience
- BSc in Physiotherapy.
- Current membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Advanced Emergency Aid Qualification (Level 5 ATMMiF).
- Substantial experience working with elite athletes and sporting injuries.
- Knowledge of both conventional and alternative treatment approaches, applied through evidence-based and experience-led practice.
